A Non-Political, Non-Profitable and Non-Government Development Organization (NGO).
 

Socio-Economic & Environment Development Society (SEEDS) was established in August 18,2001 as an initiative of Mr. Md.Mostafa Kamal and a group of social workers with specific vision, mission, goal and objectives. The Organization was established to achieve a mandate of establishment of a society of economically self reliant, environmentally sound, socially peaceful and democratically empowered. The organization is implementing its development activities focusing a range of rural population who are so stressed, landless, economically weak, socially destitute, under-privileged and others of the poorest of the poor.

The organization owns a legal authority to operate its activities in the country through necessary registration under relevant government agencies like Department of Social Welfare (Regd No.: Ma 01385 Date: 06 August 2003) & NGO Affairs Bureau (Regd No.: 2324 Date: 24 March 2008) of Bangladesh. The socio-economic situation of people of working areas of SEEDS is very much backward. Such as landless, poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, illiteracy, absence of major population from social decision making process and resource constraints are some major problems in these areas.

With these socio-Economic realities, SEEDS started its mission to facilitate the targeted partners toward their sustainable development and social transformation though technology transfer, make free excess and optimum use of local resources.

Objectives:

To achieve the goal, SEEDS has set follow objectives:

  • To reduce poverty in both rural and urban areas
  • To prevent and control STI/HIV/AIDS among the high-risk groups
  • To combat trafficking in women and children
  • To promote and restore human rights of distressed people
  • To promote WATSAN and mitigate arsenic contamination
  • To provide literacy and non-formal education
  • To ensure better health of child and mother
  • To prevent and control drug addiction among youths
  • To conduct research for identification of problems and determine
    appropriate actions
  • To establish network for strengthening programs
  • To provide emergency relief during natural disasters
  • To protect environment and conserve bio-diversity
  • To promote good governance
  • To organize environmental management courses.
